Riva Barley Short Sleeve

This Riva has short sleeves, a polo collar and three buttons with wider button fastenings. The Barley knit makes for a pebbly texture and a slightly more relaxed fit. Modern design with just the right retro touch.

The Miraculous Micron

Joe uses ultrafine, superfine and extrafine Merino wool for its essentials. The difference is in the micron count. One micron equals one millionth of a metre, and refers to the diameter of the Merino fibre. The lower the micron count, the thinner the fibre, and the softer the wool feels on your skin. The reason? Thin fibres are more flexible, and caress your skin on contact.

  1. 1) You can use a carrier of your choice. Please follow the instructions that came with your order.

Sustainability

Sustainability and Joe go hand in hand. Let us tell you why:

- Joe stands for slow fashion. Meaning we do not bring out seasonal collections, but only styles that will last you all year round for many years. For the same reason we don’t “do” sales and do not keep stocks that must be destroyed by season’s end.

- All our styles are made of Merino wool, if not fully at least partially. Wool is one of the most sustainable materials used for clothing. It is all natural, fully biodegradable, plastic-free and recyclable. And not unimportant – we only use Merino wool produced by non-mulesed sheep.

- When dyeing, we always go for the most sustainable process that uses as few chemicals as possible. Our dyeing process is ‘bluesign’-certified. The lack of chemicals is one of the reasons why our Joes hardly pill.

- All our packaging is made of 100% biodegradable cardboard and recycled and recyclable plastics.

- And lastly: with our fits that are constant and dependable (not so easy with woollen items as you might think) and our smart size calculator we have minimised the number of returns.

What to expect

The Riva Barley Short Sleeve is, of course, of the same superior quality as the Riva Buttons Short Sleeve (100% superfine Merino wool, 17.5 micron). And of course the Barley is just as finely knit, but then in the barley stitch. This lends the polo shirt a pebbly structure and a slightly more relaxed fit. The Barley gives off subtle retro vibes thanks to the special knitting and the wider button fastenings.

The superfine Merino wool Joe uses is about 17.5 micron thick. The structure and fineness of our Merino wool are the reasons our Joes feel soft and are not prickly.

Merino wool is praised world wide for its softness, strength, breathability and temperature regulating benefits. In addition, merino wool is 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable. All these beautiful natural properties make merino wool an extremely comfortable fabric to wear. Perfect for all seasons!

How to care for Merino wool

Thanks to Merino wool’s antibacterial qualities, you don’t have to wash your Joe very often. Just air your Joe outside for a night, and he will be ready for wear the next day!

Still, we recommend washing your Joe every now and then. You can do this simply and easily on the wool wash cycle in the washing machine (30° maximum, spin cycle no more than 600 rpm). Take a look at the maintenance instructions below for best results.

Take care of your Joe

  1. Wool wash at 30° and 600 rpm max
  2. Use wool detergent, no softeners
  3. No tumble drying
  4. Dry flat
  5. Iron away with a little steam
  6. No bleach
