The Miraculous Micron

Joe uses ultrafine, superfine and extrafine Merino wool for its essentials. The difference is in the micron count. One micron equals one millionth of a metre, and refers to the diameter of the Merino fibre. The lower the micron count, the thinner the fibre, and the softer the wool feels on your skin. The reason? Thin fibres are more flexible, and caress your skin on contact.

Delivery is free of charge within the EU. Once your order leaves our warehouse we will send you a Track & Trace code to track your order and the time of delivery.

Returns | 100-day return period

Returns are free of charge within the EU. There are two ways to return your order:

  1. 1) You can use a carrier of your choice. Please follow the instructions that came with your order.
  2. 2) Go to one of our brick and mortar stores in Amsterdam, Leidschendam, Antwerp or Düsseldorf.

Sustainability

Sustainability and Joe go hand in hand. Let us tell you why:

- Joe stands for slow fashion. Meaning we do not bring out seasonal collections, but only styles that will last you all year round for many years. For the same reason we don’t “do” sales and do not keep stocks that must be destroyed by season’s end.

- All our styles are made of Merino wool, if not fully at least partially. Wool is one of the most sustainable materials used for clothing. It is all natural, fully biodegradable, plastic-free and recyclable. And not unimportant – we only use Merino wool produced by non-mulesed sheep.

- When dyeing, we always go for the most sustainable process that uses as few chemicals as possible. Our dyeing process is ‘bluesign’-certified. The lack of chemicals is one of the reasons why our Joes hardly pill.

- All our packaging is made of 100% biodegradable cardboard and recycled and recyclable plastics.

- And lastly: with our fits that are constant and dependable (not so easy with woollen items as you might think) and our smart size calculator we have minimised the number of returns.

What to expect

The Joe Performance Sock is the sturdy brother within the Joe Sock family. Thanks to the 3D knitting technique, the sock has no irritating seams and fits perfectly around your feet. The Joe Performance Sock is made from a carefully balanced blend of merino wool, polyester, nylon and elastane. The soles feature an additional terry structure at key pressure points for extra protection and durability.

Polyester and nylon add strength, elastane provides flexibility and stretch, and merino wool offers a soft and luxurious feel. As the majority of the composition is merino wool, the sock also prevents clamminess and unpleasant odours.

Merino wool is globally praised for its softness, strength, breathability and temperature-regulating qualities. It is also 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable. All these beautiful natural properties make merino wool an exceptionally comfortable material to wear — perfect for any season.

How to care for Merino wool

Thanks to Merino wool’s antibacterial qualities, you don’t have to wash your Joe very often. Just air your Joe outside for a night, and he will be ready for wear the next day!

Still, we recommend washing your Joe every now and then. You can do this simply and easily on the wool wash cycle in the washing machine (30° maximum, spin cycle no more than 600 rpm). Take a look at the maintenance instructions below for best results.
