Boiled Wool Jacket

In a classy category of its own. Made of a 100% recycled wool blend (70% Merino wool, 25% polyamide and 5% other fibres) with a felted structure. Joe’s Boiled Wool Jacket is easy tailored and semi lined. The stab stitching on the lapels gives off made by hand vibes.

The classic dark blue. Unlike the "True Navy", this color is blue without melange and thus completely solid.

The Miraculous Micron

Joe uses ultrafine, superfine and extrafine Merino wool for its essentials. The difference is in the micron count. One micron equals one millionth of a metre, and refers to the diameter of the Merino fibre. The lower the micron count, the thinner the fibre, and the softer the wool feels on your skin. The reason? Thin fibres are more flexible, and caress your skin on contact.

Light weight

Joe’s thin pullovers. At 170 to 310 grammes literally lightweight. First level of coziness. The first pullover you get out when seasons change.

Mid weight

A textbook pullover. At 260 to 560 grammes a little heavier and warmer than their thin cousins. Great for autumn and winter.

Heavy weight

Our warmest Joes for when temperatures are at their lowest. At 450 to 950 grammes your Joe turns into your personal heater that will help you through any winter.

Sustainability

Sustainability and Joe go hand in hand. Let us tell you why:

- Joe stands for slow fashion. Meaning we do not bring out seasonal collections, but only styles that will last you all year round for many years. For the same reason we don’t “do” sales and do not keep stocks that must be destroyed by season’s end.

- All our styles are made of Merino wool, if not fully at least partially. Wool is one of the most sustainable materials used for clothing. It is all natural, fully biodegradable, plastic-free and recyclable. And not unimportant – we only use Merino wool produced by non-mulesed sheep.

- When dyeing, we always go for the most sustainable process that uses as few chemicals as possible. Our dyeing process is ‘bluesign’-certified. The lack of chemicals is one of the reasons why our Joes hardly pill.

- All our packaging is made of 100% biodegradable cardboard and recycled and recyclable plastics.

- And lastly: with our fits that are constant and dependable (not so easy with woollen items as you might think) and our smart size calculator we have minimised the number of returns.

What to Expect

Joe’s Boiled Wool Jacket: not a workman’s jacket, not a blazer. A jacket in a category of its own. Perfect for layering. Over a pullover or dress shirt for formal occasions or over a T-shirt or hoodie for casual get-togethers. If you get the layering right you won’t need an outer coat in autumn.

70% Merino wool, 25% polyamide, 5% other fibres

The term ‘boiled’ means that the Merino wool is first ‘agitated’ (fancy word for boiled) and shrunk in hot water. This causes the wool to felt. Next the wool is dried and roughened to make it softer. Why bother, you ask? Well, this makes the fabric denser, more robust and more insulating. This jacket is stretchy, durable and more resistant to wrinkling and more resistant to water. Light rain will simpky roll off. And as if that’s not enough - because of the natural wool fibres Joe’s Boiled Wool Jacket is also warm and breathable.

How to care for Merino wool

Unlike most of Joe's products, you cannot machine wash this jacket. The jacket can take a hit but if you do need to clean it, take it to the dry cleaner. That way, your jacket will stay nice for the longest possible time.

Take care of your Joe

  1. Don't wash
  2. Only dry cleaning
